NEWBORN STUDIO SESSIONS!
I am so excited to have a dedicated studio space for newborn sessions in my Aurora, Colorado home. Not only does it provide a comfortable space for my clients and allows me to ensure optimal conditions such as temperature and lighting, but it gives me quick access to all of my props!
(I also use the studio for indoor headshots, sitter sessions, cake smashes, and kids mini sessions.)
While parents sometimes bring small sentimental items to incorporate into the shoot, I always provide everything needed for a unique session to create images that families will cherish forever. This includes beds, bowls and baskets, newborn wraps and blankets in an assortment of colors and textures, backdrops for baby as well as a large one for family photos, headbands for little girls, rompers in a variety of colors, etc.
I have 3 different locations to photograph newborns in the studio and this allows me to move between set-ups quickly in order to make the most of our time together. I put a lot of thought and preparation into each session to plan for poses, outfits, and set-ups in advance to ensure the easiest transition between them. I always ask parents about their preferences on colors, props and poses but often parents are happy to let me plan everything.
Below is a sampling of my props and accessories as well as what the studio looks like.
BEDS, BEDS, BEDS...
I have a variety of beds that I use for poses. The one on the left I made myself out of barnwood. It's classic and simple and definitely one of a kind! I also made this little white bed and night stand set on the right with the help of my husband.
I found a child's toybox and modified and painted it to make this bed on the left.
And I made the bed on the right from branches from a tree we cut down in our yard.
This miniature chair and matching table were handmade in Europe and I've used it for both newborn and sitter sessions. This is one of my favorite sets!
BUCKETS, CRATES, & BOWLS
As you can see, I have a variety of buckets and bowls for newborns. I love scouring antique shops and fairs for unique pieces for newborns.
I have a collection of rompers for both boys and girls and I'm always picking up new ones.
HATS & HEADBANDS
Newborn headbands and tiebacks are a small addiction of mine.
I have everything from dainty tiebacks to more elaborate headbands.
I also have a variety of colors from neutrals to pinks, purples, blues and greens!
Hats for both boys and girls include slouchy caps, fitted mohair hats, and bonnets.
WRAPS AND BLANKETS
I have lots of wraps to coordinate with hats, blankets, and headbands in both neutral colors as well as pinks, purples, blues, and greens.
The photos above shows the large backdrop I use for family photos during newborn sessions.
I also have many additional backdrops for newborns (and other sessions)
