Liam: 7 Days Old | Aurora Colorado Newborn Photographer

May 14, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

I recently turned a portion of our home into dedicated studio space and I am loving it! No more dragging lighting, backdrop and props out... now I can leave everything set-up making it easy to organize, plan and complete studio sessions. In addition to creating a new space I have upgraded my lighting to the best in the industry and purchased lots of new props, wraps and headbands for my newborn sessions. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post highlighting my new studio space.

Little Liam was the first newborn I photographed in my new studio and he was an angel! I had the pleasure of photographing Mom and Dad during an extended family session and then doing some maternity photos for them before this little one arrived. They are such a nice family and I can't wait to have Liam back in the studio. Six-month sessions and one-year cake smashes are among my favorites!

Here are some of the highlights from our session!

The "potato sack" pose above is becoming very popular. I personally love it and babies love it because they are warm and cozy.

In this one Liam is wrapped in 3 different layers.

From the Potato Sack wrap it's pretty easy to peel a layer off and have a different look. I got to use my new antique crate and some "fluff" that I made out of thick yarn. I love making session props when I can!

I peeled another layer off and we get to see Liam's cute little hands and feet!

I also used this little chair and table that an artisan in Europe made for me. Between making it and transit time, it took a couple months to get but it was well worth it because this has got to be one of my faorite setups of all time! Lots of planning and prep went into it. I searched everywhere for miniature books that I liked and finally ended up making my own by cutting 1X4 wood and gluing on some book images I purchased on Etsy (one of my favorite places for buying unique items). I also purchased the miniature antique candle holder on Etsy and found a coordinating globe at Homegoods. Another place I love to prop shop (it's an addiction).

Of course I had to capture some newborn wrinkles...

And photos with proud Mom and Dad!

I incorporated some grays into the photos since it's one of the colors in Liam's nursery.

Finally, I added a little military set-up to honor Dad. I love the way this one turned out in a combat helmet replica I got on Amazon.
